NeuroRounds is a live, interactive forum where medical students come together with physicians, scientists, researchers, and other remarkable people to explore medicine in a way that rarely happens in the classroom.

The conversation often begins with a real patient or clinical case. What happened? What did the physician see? What mattered? What choices were available—and how was the decision made? Participants have the opportunity to ask questions and, more importantly, hear experienced clinicians explain not only what they did, but how they thought about it.

But NeuroRounds isn't confined to neurosurgery—or even to the clinical case.

Conversations can move into emerging science and technology, research, ethics, leadership, uncertainty, failure, resilience, or the philosophy of medicine. The common thread is curiosity: bringing students into thoughtful conversations with people who have something worth teaching and experiences worth sharing.

Founded during the COVID-19 pandemic by neurosurgeon Mark R. McLaughlin, MD, and then-medical student Maggie E. Fitzpatrick, NeuroRounds began as a way to restore something students were suddenly missing: meaningful exposure to patients, physicians, and clinical thinking.

That purpose remains.
